Justin Turns 30!

Justin hadn't been looking forward to turning 30 at all. So, I decided to lay off the "old man" jokes and just help him celebrate. On the actual day we had my family over for dessert. When I asked him what he wanted to have, he couldn't think of anything, so I made suggestions, starting with two of of his favorites, Grasshopper pie and Rice Krispie Treats. He stopped me and said, "ok, both!". You can't deny the birthday boy his birthday request, right? So he got both. (For those of you grossed out/confused people, Grasshopper pie is a marshmallow-y minty pie with an oreo crust. They are heavenly!

A few months earlier, Justin had TiVo-ed a show on fun things to do in Colorado, and that is where we discovered Captain Zipline. It is in Salida, which I found out is about 3.5 hours from Parker. He kept saying how much he wanted to do it, so I booked it as a surprise for him. We both took the day off from work to go. It was actually nice to be in the car for that long, since it was just the two of us. It reminded me a lot of when we used to take road trips pre-kids. Always fun, and as usual he couldn't believe how Jen "Tiny Tank" Sevy has to stop so much for potty breaks! =)

We got there around noon, and found the place by the vehicle parked in front of the building. Here it is:

The sides are open, and we rode in this with the other 8 people who went on the tour with us. We actually cruised down the highway to get to the privately owned Lost Canyon. Once we got there, we got suited up and they had us practice on a few "Bunny Lines" to get the hang of it. If you start to get off center, it's tricky because you push the opposite way on the line with your hand. Luckily, I never lost control and started spinning like I was afraid. Justin did once, but it was intentional. Here we are in our awesome helmets and gear before the first line.

Unfortunately, our little camera wouldn't fit in my little pocket very well, so I only dared to take it across the canyon once. Other than that, it rode in Justin's cargo pocket safely. That just means that almost all of the pictures we have are of me on the line, and we only got a few of him. However, I did manage to take little video of him flying across one of the lines.

I love the high-pitched noise the line makes when you go across.

I also love my hubby! Happy Birthday Justin!
